Attorney David C. Hardy is a 1989 graduate of Providence College and a 1992 graduate of Boston College’s Graduate School of Education. In 1995, he became the namesake of Providence College’s David Hardy Award. According to the Providence College Athletic Department, this award is presented annually “to the male and female student-athletes who exhibit those qualities which David Hardy brought to the Providence Swimming and Diving teams: loyalty, dedication, good sportsmanship and outstanding effort, both academically and athletically.” These are the same qualities that Attorney Hardy brings to his law practice every day. After teaching from 1992-1996 in a Boston Prison, Attorney Hardy attended Suffolk University Law during the evenings as he taught public school during the day. At the close of his first year of law school, Attorney Hardy was ranked 1st in his class out of 203 students. He won the Law School’s Best Oral Advocate Award, The Jurisprudence Award for the Study of Torts (which includes the study of personal injury law), and The Paul McLaughlin Memorial Prosecutor Fellowship. In 1999, he served as an intern with the United States Department of Justice. In 2000, he graduated Magna Cum Laude (with high honors) in the top four percent of his class From 2000 until 2002, Attorney Hardy served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras, Central America. He trained hundreds of police officers and Justices of the Peace on legal reforms and assisted local governments draft new laws. During his service, Mr. Hardy earned the Peace Corps’ Oral Proficiency Fluency Rating of superior in Spanish language. In 2003, Attorney Hardy accepted a position at a Providence law firm that specialized in personal injury law. For just under a year he defended medical doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice, wrongful death, and slip and fall cases. From 2005-2010, Attorney Hardy served as an Assistant State Attorney in Tampa, where he handled thousands of cases, ranging from DUI to first degree felonies. He has tried 50 jury trials, 70 bench trials, and handled hundreds of motions and hearings. He is a 2007 graduate of the National District Attorneys’ Association’s Trial Practice Course. In 2010, the Florida Bar designated Attorney Hardy as a Board Certified Expert in the area of Criminal Trial Law. Of the more than 86,000 Florida lawyers, less than ½ of 1% are Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law. Attorney Hardy is admitted to practice in Florida, Rhode Island, The United States District Court of Rhode Island, and The United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
